St John the Evangelist Anglican Church

About this church

St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church in Dayton celebrates Holy Eucharist Sundays at 10:30 a.m., preceded by the Psalm-Children Sunday School class at 9:45. Nursery care is available, though the parish also encourages children to learn through observing and participating in Mass with their families. Worship follows the 1928 Book of Common Prayer and emphasizes Word and Sacrament within the Anglican Catholic tradition. Wednesday Evening Prayer begins at 6:30 p.m., with holy days and national-holiday services announced through bulletins and the online calendar.

St. John is a parish of the Anglican Catholic Church’s Diocese of the Midwest and traces its independent parish status to 1873, when it grew from a mission of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Newport. Its stated mission serves Northern Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati through the gospel, fellowship, parish growth, and care for others. Coffee hour follows Mass, supported by St. Martha’s Guild, while ushers greet visitors and help with bulletins and seating. Street parking is usually available; the church also has permission to use the King Smoke lot on Sixth Avenue below the parish hall. St. John is at 619 O’Fallon Avenue. Check the events calendar for episcopal visits and feast-day liturgies.
