First Christian Church

About this church

First Christian Church of Hopkinsville offers Sunday education for all ages at 9:30 a.m. and sanctuary worship at 10:45. Guests can enter the gathering area from the Morningside Drive parking lot or use the doors beneath the steeple on Walnut Street. Clothing ranges from business attire to business casual, but the church explicitly welcomes people as they are. Recent services can be watched on Facebook without creating an account, making the congregation's worship and preaching easy to preview.

As a Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) congregation, First Christian emphasizes unity, education, service, thoughtful engagement with Scripture, and an open Lord's Table. Children begin worship with their families and join a children's lesson before choosing either the sanctuary or an age-specific experience: Worship & Wonder for age three through first grade and Following Jesus for grades two through five. Sunday School also includes pre-K through fifth grade and a discussion-based youth class for grades six through high school. Recurring family traditions include AutumnFest, a living Nativity presented for more than 60 years, and caroling visits to homebound members.
