Freedom Christian Church

About this church

Freedom Christian Church offers Sunday worship at 9 and 10:30 a.m. at 936 Winifred Road in Cumberland. Sunday school and adult groups meet at 9, while children in kindergarten through fifth grade have Children's Worship during the 10:30 service. A planned first visit can include advance contact, help with children's check-in, and reserved seats, useful for a family that wants to know where to go before walking through the door.

Wednesday Kids for Christ and Youth Group meet from 6 to 8 p.m. with a meal, serving elementary students and grades six through twelve. The congregation's mission is to lead people to freedom in Jesus, supported by fellowship, discipleship, outreach, Sunday school, camp, Vacation Bible School, meals, and small ministries for different ages. It began on December 13, 1964, as Church of Christ–Cumberland, first worshiping at the Women's Civic Club on Washington Street. Freedom now supports ten global missions while investing in needs around Cumberland; its official missions list includes work in Thailand and Burma, France, India, Africa, and children's ministry. The church also purchased thirty adjoining acres in 2023 for a future building and community area. Visitors can choose the quieter first service, the later family programming, or the Wednesday meal-based ministries as distinct ways to meet the congregation.
