Redland Baptist Church

About this church

Redland Baptist Church in Derwood gives visitors a clear choice: contemporary worship begins at 8:30 a.m., while the traditional service starts at 11. A praise band and familiar Christian-radio songs lead the first; classic hymns, full choir, and orchestra shape the second. Bible-study groups for all ages meet around 9:45, and worship is livestreamed. Dress ranges from suits and skirts to jeans and polo shirts. Youth in grades six through twelve attend age-separated Sunday school and then worship with adults, while younger children have extended care and Bible study.

Twenty-one people founded Redland in a home in 1966. The congregation now gathers on a 13-acre campus and marked 60 years of Derwood ministry in 2026. Its ROC recreational outreach center, dedicated in 2011, hosts children's camps, open-gym sports, and family events. Music participation extends beyond the two Sunday styles into sanctuary, gospel, handbell, and children's choirs plus an orchestra; the Gospel Choir helps preserve the choral tradition of the Negro spiritual. Families can also find AWANA, American Heritage Girls, summer Bible, sports, STEAM, and handbell camps. Newcomers should choose a musical style first, then use the middle education hour to meet a smaller group.
