Saint Abraham's Lutheran Church

About this church

Saint Abraham’s Lutheran Church meets at 4029 Beckleysville Road in Hampstead. The congregation lists both Sunday School and Sunday worship at 9:30 a.m., so a first-time visitor should contact the church to ask how classes and the service are arranged on the morning they plan to attend. The weekly rhythm also includes Bible study before worship. Special Lutheran services are offered during seasons such as Lent, Thanksgiving, and Christmas, though joint services with a sister congregation may occasionally replace the normal schedule.

Founded in 1834 as a church serving more than one Christian congregation, Saint Abraham’s was formally organized as Lutheran in 1854. Its nave dates to 1856, with later additions including a bell tower and Christian education building. The small congregation maintains an unusually broad community-service calendar: food and household collections for Northeast Social Action Program, veterans’ assistance through its Jingle Jar, school supplies, world-hunger projects, shut-in care baskets, adopt-a-family support, Vacation Bible School, and local events. It also helped found Carroll Lutheran School and Carroll Lutheran Village. Check the official announcements before holiday visits.
