First Congregational Church

About this church

First Congregational Church in Saugus gathers for worship Sundays at 10:00 a.m. and also shares the service on Facebook Live. The United Church of Christ congregation is Open and Affirming, explicitly welcoming people across sexual orientations, gender identities and expressions, family circumstances, physical or developmental abilities, and other differences. That public commitment gives prospective visitors more information than a generic welcome: it describes the breadth of participation the church intends to support in its worship and community life.

The congregation’s Saugus roots reach to 1736, when the area was still part of Lynn. Its own history places that story beside the much earlier Indigenous presence around nearby Round Hill rather than treating the church as the beginning of local history. Current outreach includes the Saugus Community Food Pantry, which operates from the church and serves neighbors facing food insecurity. Together, the livestream, historic context, food ministry, and Open and Affirming identity describe a long-established Congregational church connecting Sunday worship with an unusually explicit welcome and practical service in Saugus today.
