Winthrop Street Baptist Church

About this church

Winthrop Street Baptist Church is a downtown Taunton congregation seeking to proclaim the gospel of Jesus, make disciples, and serve the city and beyond. Sunday worship, livestreaming, children’s care, expositional preaching, community groups, coffee, mentoring, prayer, and service create a relaxed setting for people to gather, grow, and contribute.

Sunday worship begins at 10:00 a.m. onsite and on YouTube. A typical service includes praise songs, announcements, and a Bible message that works through one biblical book over a series; coffee and conversation follow in the café area and sanctuary. Dress ranges from suits to T-shirts and jeans. Two parking areas are entered from Winthrop and Cohannet streets, with overflow permitted at Bank of America and Allen M. Walker Insurance near Winthrop and High. Children from birth through fifth grade may stay in the sanctuary or check in for age-based care. Childcare serves infants through preschool, with changing and feeding space. Kindergarten through fifth grade begins in the main auditorium for music, then dismisses with a trained volunteer for an interactive lesson and activities; advance registration is optional. The youth group is not currently meeting, though a youth pastor mentors attending teenagers and young adults. Public pages do not specify accessibility, service duration, child pickup protocol, background checks, or Communion frequency.
