About this church
Christ Church Cranbrook is an Episcopal parish at 470 Church Road in Bloomfield Hills. Its weekend begins with a casual Saturday service at 5 p.m. Sunday offers a smaller Rite One Eucharist at 8 a.m. and the principal service at 10, which is also livestreamed. The 10 a.m. gathering includes the full choir, special music, children and youth formation, occasional guest preachers, and a festive coffee hour. Visitors are explicitly invited to come as they are. Founded in 1928, the church has built a regional reputation for sacred music, with choirs affiliated with the Royal School of Church Music.
Newcomers can submit a visit form for help checking children into Sunday School or getting oriented before worship. The parish also makes service a direct path into community: volunteers greet, read Scripture, prepare the altar and Eucharist, pray with others, assist worship, and support ministries beyond Sunday. Middle- and high-school students may train as acolytes, learning the meaning and practice of Episcopal liturgy while taking a visible role in services. This combination of monumental architecture, formal Anglican tradition, strong choral music, and an approachable Saturday option gives visitors several different ways to encounter the same congregation.
