Messiah Baptist Church begins Sunday Bible study and Sunday School at 9 a.m., followed by worship at 10:30, at 8100 West Seven Mile Road in Detroit. The worship service usually runs no longer than 90 minutes and is available in person or online. Messiah began in a rented Detroit garage in 1923 with four organizers. The congregation later worshiped on St. Aubin and Humboldt before purchasing its current Seven Mile property in 1970. Its mission emphasizes evangelism, education, edification, and exhortation, and more than thirty ministries have served the church and community. Bible Training for Ministry now meets at 9 a.m. Sunday for close reading and practical application of Scripture. Teens Loving Christ serves ages twelve through seventeen on the third Sunday from 10:30 to 11:30. A family with teens should note that this gathering overlaps the main service, while adults wanting a smaller first setting can begin with the 9 a.m. study.
