Evangel Community Church

About this church

Evangel Community Church in Houghton holds Sunday services at 9:30 and 11 a.m., with the first gathering livestreamed. Worship blends contemporary praise songs and traditional hymns with prayer, announcements, giving, and a Bible message. Coffee and fresh donut holes greet visitors, and the church encourages casual arrival. Programming runs from nursery through high school, with check-in required for children through fifth grade. Children may also remain with their parents in the worship center or overflow area.

Evangel draws people from communities across Michigan's Copper Country as well as Michigan Tech, and it emphasizes purposeful relationships rather than a Sunday-only experience. Children's classes use a chronological, Christ-centered Bible curriculum and send home resources so families can continue learning together. Middle- and high-school students have Sunday breakout sessions at 11 a.m.; Pulse and Thrive ordinarily meet Wednesday from 6:30 to 8:15 p.m. during the school year. Adult classes and discussion groups, men's and women's ministry, and service opportunities create routes into community for different life stages. Families will find documented background checks and child-safety training for volunteers, plus a simple first-visit registration process. The 9:30 service is best for livestream access, while 11 a.m. aligns directly with the published youth breakout time.
