The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - Hazlehurst, Mississippi

About this church

Hazlehurst's only listed meetinghouse stands at 28178 MS-28, with Wesson, about eighteen and a half miles off, home to the closest alternative. Sunday services for the Hazlehurst Branch begin at 10 a.m. and run until 12 p.m. An accessible entryway, parking near the door, a wheelchair-capable restroom and seating built for accessibility round out the site. The Hazlehurst Branch is a unit of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which owns this meetinghouse.

Hymns, prayers and the sacrament — bread and water — open the hour, with talks given by branch members, before a second hour of classes begins, Primary among them. Admission costs nothing, and no basket ever circulates. This branch covers a good stretch of southern Mississippi, since congregations here are drawn by geography rather than convenience. Comfort matters more than formality for a first-time visitor here. It's worth checking by phone before a first visit, since these times are set and occasionally changed locally.
