Newman Road Church of Christ

About this church

Newman Road Church of Christ is a Joplin congregation near Missouri Southern State University, centered on Scripture, congregational singing, weekly Communion, prayer, and Bible study. In keeping with its Church of Christ tradition, worship music is vocal rather than accompanied by instruments. The church specifically welcomes university students, giving people new to Joplin a nearby congregation and a route into local Christian community.

Sunday gatherings begin at 9:30 and 10:30 a.m., and Wednesday Bible study begins at 7:00 p.m. Visitors can expect a cappella singing, teaching from Scripture, prayer, and the Lord’s Supper on Sunday. Those unfamiliar with Churches of Christ may find the about page useful because it explains practices that are more specific than a generic “Christian” label. The map and directions page helps locate the building beside the MSSU area, while a study-request page allows someone to ask questions outside a public service. College students should use the dedicated student page for current connections rather than assuming a separate campus service. As with any weekly schedule, holiday changes are best confirmed through current news.
