First Memorial Presbyterian Church

About this church

First Memorial Presbyterian Church holds worship at 10 a.m. Sunday at 51 West Blackwell Street in Dover, with a Facebook livestream that does not require an account. The building is accessible by an elevator from the parking lot to the sanctuary and chair lifts to the main floor. Children begin worship with the congregation, then leave after the children's sermon for one of three Sunday School groups: preschool and kindergarten, grades one through four, or grades five through twelve.

The church's purpose joins worship, education, and mission across Dover and the surrounding area. Its food pantry operates Wednesday between 10 a.m. and noon, and volunteers serve food at Faith Kitchen on the second Monday each month. The building also hosts Alcoholics Anonymous at multiple weekday times. Youth Group welcomes sixth through twelfth graders of every faith and background, emphasizing mission, community service, friendship, and enjoyable activities rather than requiring prior Presbyterian experience. Current bulletins and recorded services are posted online, which lets a visitor compare the actual order of worship and recent preaching before attending. A first-time household can use the single Sunday hour and age-divided classes without navigating competing services. People who need step-free access can enter from the parking lot, while prospective volunteers can begin with the pantry or monthly meal distribution.
