New Zion Baptist Church

About this church

New Zion Baptist Church in Elizabeth begins Sundays with Sunday School at 9:30 a.m., followed by worship at 11:00 in the sanctuary and online. A Spanish-language service meets at 2:00 p.m. The congregation describes itself as Bible-preaching, Bible-teaching, Bible-believing, and Bible-living, with more than a century of service in the city. Its Wednesday rhythm includes noon prayer and a 7:00 p.m. Bible Institute, with different weeks assigned to corporate worship, women’s study, “Man Talk,” and family study. The site notes that Bible study pauses for the summer and resumes in September.

Visitors can use New Zion’s stream to preview Sunday worship before attending. The Flora Street campus is also home to ministries for children and teenagers, music education, a mass choir, youth dance, scholars, and seasonal community events such as a back-to-school distribution. Because the Wednesday format alternates between the church and Zoom, and summer programming changes, the ministry calendar is more reliable than assuming every group meets onsite each week. Families should likewise check current Sunday ministry notes for children’s arrangements. The church lists its campus as 800–822 Flora Street, also called New Zion Way. Review the official calendar for holiday services and the latest Spanish-worship information before traveling.
