Metuchen Assembly of God

About this church

Metuchen Assembly of God begins Sunday with classes for all ages at 9:30 a.m., followed by worship at 10:30 in the sanctuary and live on YouTube. The worship team uses a band and singers to prepare the congregation for Bible preaching, with an emphasis on hope, healing, restoration, and love. Prayer meets Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. Youth ages twelve through eighteen also gather Wednesday at 7:30 for Bible study, worship, prayer, and activities, so families should contact the office to confirm whether the two programs use separate rooms.

This Pentecostal congregation traces its beginning to a Full Gospel meeting of thirteen people at the Metuchen YMCA on November 27, 1966. After worshiping in seven locations, the church obtained its present property in 1969 and completed the sanctuary in 1974. Its current beliefs emphasize salvation through repentance and faith in Jesus, baptism in the Holy Spirit, spiritual gifts, and Christ's return. Children ages five through seventeen can participate in Junior and Teen Bible Quiz, combining Scripture study with Assembly of God competitions. The official site describes prayer as the church's heartbeat and serving as faith expressed through practical love. Newcomers can pair the all-ages education hour with worship, preview the livestream, or begin with the midweek prayer gathering.
