About this church

Las Placitas Presbyterian Church is an inclusive New Mexico congregation whose roots reach to a nineteenth-century Spanish village mission. Members come from varied cultural and faith backgrounds and gather around Christ through worship, prayer, learning, fellowship, music, arts, service, peace and justice work, and care for the earth. Spanish elements in every liturgy intentionally honor the congregation’s local heritage.

During the school year, an informal participatory service meets Sunday at 8:30 a.m. in the Upper Room, where worshipers discuss the day’s readings and their application. Traditional sanctuary worship follows at 10:30. During summer, those two services are replaced by one traditional service at 9:30 in the sanctuary, with a Zoom option available by email. Communion is served on the first Sunday of each month using grape juice. Assisted-listening devices are available from greeters or the sound technician. Once yearly, worship may move to Sandia Conference Grounds for an outdoor service and picnic, subject to weather and fire conditions. Visitors should check the current schedule before traveling because the summer transition and outdoor Sunday directly change the normal time or location.
