Babylon United Methodist Church

About this church

Babylon United Methodist Church gathers at 9:30 a.m. Sunday at 21 James Street. Children begin in the service and leave after the children's message for age-appropriate Bible stories, songs, crafts, and activities; nursery care is available for the youngest children. The church describes itself as a diverse and inclusive Christian community in which people of different identities, abilities, family structures, and faith histories may participate fully in worship, leadership, ministry, rituals, and sacraments.

The congregation connects Sunday worship to visible work in Babylon and beyond. It operates a weekly food pantry, offers a hot meal after worship each Sunday to anyone in need, participates in Long Island Habitat builds, and travels with the Appalachia Service Project to repair homes and form relationships. Weekday options include Tuesday and Wednesday Bible studies, while Methodist Youth Fellowship gives students in grades six through twelve space for friendship, service, questions, and faith. A peer group called Lend an Ear supports people through grief and loss. For a first visit, the 9:30 service offers the clearest introduction; families can expect children to start beside them in worship rather than report immediately to a separate program.
