St Martin De Porres Church

About this church

St. Martin de Porres Roman Catholic Church worships at 555 Northampton Street in Buffalo. Sunday offers an 8 a.m. traditional Mass and a 9:30 a.m. Gospel Mass; the later service is also available through the parish Facebook page. The official schedule still lists Tuesday-through-Thursday noon chapel Masses but marks them canceled until further notice, so they should not be treated as active weekday services. Parish worship is supported by altar servers, commentators, lay Eucharistic ministers, musicians, and a church-environment team that prepares the sanctuary for each liturgical season.

The congregation's life reflects its identity as a Black Catholic parish as well as its place in the wider Diocese of Buffalo. Its service and outreach pages invite volunteers into Catholic Charities, evangelization, communications, and other neighborhood-facing work. The parish also highlights the National Black Catholic Congress, whose mission includes enriching African American Catholic life and coordinating with the country's African American bishops. Youth engagement, sacramental preparation, reflection, and parish-life ministries give different generations ways to participate beyond Mass. Before attending, visitors can check current happenings and the weekly bulletin on the homepage; that is especially useful because the weekday cancellation notice remains open-ended while Sunday worship continues on its published schedule.
