First United Methodist Church of Schenectady

About this church

First United Methodist Church of Schenectady worships Sundays at 10:00 a.m. in person and on YouTube. The congregation describes itself as a thinking church that integrates mind and faith, seeks justice, and welcomes people across age, race, gender, sexual orientation, ability, and background. Its worship, music, and online archive reflect that commitment to learning and inclusion rather than treating Sunday as an isolated event.

Children and youth from infancy through high school are included in ministry, and children of every age are welcome in the main service. Local mission includes a free community breakfast, soap ministry, home-furnishings support, work with City Mission, and partnerships with other Schenectady organizations. The church summarizes its hope as being a gift of God to its communities. Visitors can preview online worship, review mission opportunities, and check the main site for current notices before joining the regular 10:00 gathering at State Street.
