Lutheran Church of the Nativity in Asheville offers Sunday worship at 8:30 and 10:00 a.m. The earlier service uses a shorter format and more contemporary music; the later service includes choir, organ, and occasional chanting and is livestreamed. Every worship opportunity includes Scripture, reflection, prayer, and Holy Communion. When a month has a fifth Sunday, the congregation meets for one combined 10:00 a.m. service that adds prayers for healing.

Children may use a family room beside the sanctuary with a livestream monitor during the 10:00 service. During the school year, Children’s Word Time provides age-appropriate Scripture activities during the sermon, while middle- and high-school students meet weekly from September through May for a 5:30 p.m. meal and 6:00 small groups. Chartered in 1963, Nativity has shared space with other congregations, Scouts, Project Linus, and Alcoholics Anonymous. Its work with Asheville Buncombe Community Christian Ministry has supplied volunteers, funds, food, clothing, medical supplies, and other assistance to neighbors in need, people experiencing homelessness, and people in prison. Volunteers also deliver home Communion and make prayer shawls. These ministries add concrete family care and local service to the church’s two musical settings and weekly Communion.
