The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - Dobson

About this church

Dobson's only meetinghouse in the directory is located at 100 Windsor Park Dr, with Mount Airy, about seven and a half miles off, home to the nearest other. The Dobson Ward gathers weekly at 10 a.m., with the building open until 12 p.m. A ramped walkway, designated parking, a restroom equipped for wheelchairs and accessible seating are all part of the grounds. Care of the grounds falls to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, parent organization of the Dobson Ward.

The opening hour combines hymns, prayers and the sacrament of bread and water with talks from ward members, and a second hour of classes comes right after, Primary included. There's nothing to pay, and no offering plate makes the rounds. This ward covers a wide stretch of North Carolina's Piedmont, since congregations are organized by geography rather than choice. Dressing formally isn't a requirement for anyone new to the building. Since the ward's calendar is set locally and reviewed periodically, a quick call before a first visit tends to pay off.
