First Presbyterian Church

About this church

First Presbyterian Church worships at 11:00 a.m. in its Main Street sanctuary in Highlands, with a children’s class offered during the service. The congregation welcomes first-time visitors, seasonal residents, and people seeking a permanent church home, describing its doors as open to everyone. Sacred music is a defining feature: guest instrumentalists and vocalists appear on many Sundays, and the church hosts bluegrass services, hymn sings, seasonal concerts, and a Christmas carol sing.

A free Music for Prayer series is offered Thursdays at noon, providing a contemplative weekday entry point even for people not ready to attend Sunday worship. The music ministry also includes handbells and other opportunities for participants to serve, while the church’s newcomer guidance aims to make the first visit predictable and comfortable. Because Highlands has a substantial seasonal population, calendars and music schedules may shift throughout the year. Families should check the current homepage for children’s arrangements, and music lovers can consult the ministry page to see whether a guest artist or special service coincides with their visit.
