The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - Weddington

About this church

Weddington, North Carolina has a single meetinghouse of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, at 5897 Hemby Road, roughly 8.6 miles from the nearest other one the directory lists, in Mint Hill. The entrance, parking lot, restroom, and seating are all wheelchair accessible.

Four congregations meet here on Sundays: Providence Ward at 9 a.m., Sun Valley Ward at 10:30 a.m., Weddington Ward at 12 p.m., and the Hemby YSA Branch at 2:15 p.m. A sacrament meeting runs about an hour, with hymns, prayers, the sacrament of bread and water, and talks from members of the congregation, and a second hour of classes comes afterward, including Primary for children. There is never a charge to attend, and no collection plate is passed around. A visitor can dress formally or casually, whichever feels right. With four congregations using the building across the day, including a young single adult branch later in the afternoon, it helps to know which time fits. Since schedules are set locally and can be revised, a short phone call before a first visit is worth the effort.
