About this church

The Barn in Allentown calls its Sunday worship “the Gathering,” beginning at 10:10 a.m. This nontraditional faith community uses art, dialogue, and interaction to engage heart, mind, and spirit. A prayer circle meets at 9:30, followed by coffee and refreshments at 9:45; visitors can bring coffee into worship and dress comfortably. Parking is plentiful, accessible spaces are near the Downyflake Lane entrance, and a lot greeter helps people find their way. The church’s vision is to be rooted in community, grow toward God, and reach out to neighbors.

Children begin with the congregation at a worship table. Wiggle Worms serves babies through kindergarten with childcare, while Faithful Friends in first through fifth grade receive a short lesson and then participate in worship with additional resources. Middle-school youth in grades six through eight meet Sundays from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.; the joint high-school group meets from 6:30 to 8:30 with Faith Presbyterian Church in Emmaus. Youth plan service projects as well as share devotions, games, and fellowship. The Barn stands out for its arts-based format, staggered hospitality before worship, and shared youth ministry across congregations.
