New Life Baptist Church

About this church

New Life Baptist Church gathers for worship at 11 a.m. Sunday at 840 Harrison Avenue in Scranton. Its mission, “Connecting real people to a real God,” shapes a deliberately unpretentious welcome. Greeters help newcomers locate the nursery, restrooms, seating, and other essentials, and the church encourages comfortable, modest clothing rather than a special Sunday persona. Worship includes congregational praise, prayer, and Bible teaching in a setting designed for people seeking hope as well as established believers.

Kids Life serves ages five through eleven with Scripture lessons, crafts, worship, and play in an environment the church describes as both safe and engaging. Adults can explore membership through an online resource and connect with leaders about practical next steps. New Life's doctrinal statement identifies teaching the Bible, preparing believers for ministry, sharing the gospel locally and globally, prayer, holiness, baptism, and the Lord's Supper as central church responsibilities. It also explains the roles of pastors and deacons, giving visitors more detail than a general statement of faith. A newcomer can attend the single 11 a.m. gathering knowing a greeter will provide orientation, children have an age-specific option, and the congregation expects ordinary people rather than polished appearances. Reading the mission and beliefs pages beforehand offers a clear view of both tone and theology.
