Tunkhannock United Methodist Church

About this church

Tunkhannock United Methodist Church is a welcoming congregation founded as a Methodist society in 1828. It organizes its purpose around knowing God’s love, following Christ’s way, and serving the world, and explicitly welcomes people who have felt different or excluded. Sunday worship includes responsive readings, hymns, children’s conversation, prayer, Scripture, and a message, with open Communion by intinction on the first Sunday. Children can remain in worship with activity bags, while program-year Sunday School uses Bible stories and activities with background-checked, Safe Sanctuaries-certified teachers.

The regular schedule lists worship at 8:30 a.m. in person and on Facebook, Sunday School at 9:45, and a second sanctuary service at 11:00. The church warns that summer worship times change and Sunday School pauses until fall, so visitors must confirm the current summer hour rather than rely on the program-year pattern. The small rear lot fills quickly; street parking is available nearby, with accessible spaces and an entrance on Warren Street. Large-print materials, accessible restrooms, and assisted-listening devices are available by request.
