Berkey Church

About this church

Berkey Church worships Sundays at 8:00 and 10:00 a.m. at 1038 Church Drive in Windber, with Sunday School between the services at 9:00. Monday prayer and Bible study begin at 6:00 p.m. During the school year, Wednesday ministries meet from 6:30 to 7:30 for children ages three and older, youth, and young parents. Children sing, hear a Bible story, and play lesson-related games, while youth combine activities with biblical teaching.

The congregation’s beliefs identify the Old and New Testaments as the guide for individual and shared Christian life, with worship, study, prayer, and fellowship all contributing to discipleship. Sunday School includes five children’s classes from age three through sixth grade plus a class for grades seven through twelve, using consistent teachers and hands-on lessons. Annual Vacation Bible School welcomes more than 150 children for Scripture, crafts, games, music, workbooks, and lunch. Berkey also publishes outreach and deacon-care contacts, school-supply drives, youth events, and Brethren Workshop ministries. Two worship times surrounding one education hour make the Sunday layout especially flexible: visitors can attend early or late worship and still connect with the same 9:00 formation period.
