St. Paul's Lutheran Church

About this church

St. Paul’s Lutheran Church is currently publishing a summer schedule of one Holy Eucharist service Sundays at 9:30 a.m. at 25 West Springettsbury Avenue in York. Because the congregation uses seasonal schedules, prospective visitors should check the homepage before traveling outside the summer period. The church belongs to the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and summarizes its mission in a concise phrase: teaching the world that God is love.

This is a congregation with a documented York history. Formed in 1836 by English-speaking Lutherans, St. Paul’s worshiped in earlier buildings before fire and congregational mergers led to the present church, completed in 1942. A major 2019 renovation added modern heating and cooling, gathering space, preschool classrooms, accessible facilities, and a food-pantry area while retaining the historic worship setting. Children, youth, men’s and women’s groups, social ministry, preschool, music, and a companion relationship in Tanzania give the congregation several expressions beyond Sunday Eucharist. Its youth material includes faith formation, service projects, and Lutheran camping opportunities. For a visitor, the profile combines a clear current worship time with the context that the time is seasonal, plus a century-spanning building story and visible commitments to education and local service.
