Burks United Methodist Church

About this church

Burks United Methodist Church gathers for one all-ages service Sunday at 10:00 a.m. in its Hixson sanctuary. Worship lasts about an hour and begins with music led by the choir or praise team, with lyrics projected for participation. Greeting, Scripture readings, and a thoughtful sermon complete the main sequence. Dress ranges from jeans to suits and dresses. Visitor parking is located by the main entrance, and greeters may even meet arrivals with an umbrella in wet weather. An online version premieres on Facebook at 11:15 for people worshiping from home.

Families can choose among several levels of participation. Nursery care serves infants from two months through age four. Young children may remain in the sanctuary's Grace Space with quiet, age-appropriate materials, join the children's message, or continue into Kids' Worship for elementary ages. First-time check-in records allergies, special needs, contact details, and authorized pickup. Students in grades six through twelve meet most Sundays at 5:00 p.m. for faith conversations, friendship, retreats, and monthly service projects. Burks defines its mission as connecting people with Christ, church, and purpose, expressed locally through a community food cupboard, weekend food packs, firewood delivery, housing support, and partnerships across the Chattanooga area.
