First Baptist Church Gainesville

About this church

First Baptist Church Gainesville offers two distinct Sunday worship styles in the same downtown congregation. Modern worship begins at 9 a.m. with the Worship Team, Sunday School follows at 10, and traditional worship begins at 11. The church presents itself as a place to meet Jesus, enter a life-giving community, and feel welcome. For a first visit, the choice is practical as well as musical: guests can select the modern or traditional service, or pair either service with the central Sunday School hour.

Impact Student Ministries serves grades six through twelve through Sunday School and a weekly 6 to 7:30 p.m. gathering that combines food, games, worship, biblical teaching, and fellowship. The church's calendar also lists seasonal Wednesday programming for children, students, adults, and ministry leaders, so midweek schedules should be checked before attending. The congregation's beliefs emphasize Scripture as useful for teaching, correction, and training, an idea reflected in both student ministry and adult small-group development. Families interested in age-based programs should arrive early enough to locate the correct spaces in the main building. Visitors primarily comparing worship styles can use the official what-to-expect page to decide between the 9 and 11 a.m. services.
