The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - Hillsboro, Texas

About this church

Hillsboro, Texas has one meetinghouse in the directory, at 1024 Old Bynum Rd, with Cleburne, about twenty-nine miles off, home to the nearest other. The Hillsboro Ward gathers weekly at 10 a.m., with the building open until 12 p.m. The building offers a level entrance, marked parking spots, an accessible restroom and seating designed for wheelchairs. Ownership of the meetinghouse rests with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, home to the Hillsboro Ward.

The service opens with hymns and prayers, moves into the sacrament of bread and water, and includes talks from members of the ward, all inside about an hour, with a second hour of classes to follow and Primary set aside for children. Nothing is asked in payment, and no plate is ever passed. This ward covers a wide stretch of central Texas, since congregations are organized by geography rather than choice. A first-timer can skip Sunday best without a second thought. Local leaders keep this schedule current, revising it now and then, so calling ahead of a visit is a good habit.
