The congregation began in 1979 with twenty people and 24-year-old founding pastor Dusty Kemp. Its history recounts an unexpectedly met rent payment at the outset, later seasons of revival, disaster and storm response, and support for orphanages and hospitals. After Kemp's death in 2016, Brett and Mary Kemp-Smith continued the ministry; today the church describes itself as debt-free and as diverse as the Houston region it serves. Its statement of faith includes the authority of Scripture, the Trinity, salvation by grace through faith, water baptism, baptism in the Holy Spirit, divine healing, and lifelong sanctification. A connection card allows guests to identify a first visit, a renewed Christian commitment, or a wish to speak with a ministry team member. Newcomers can therefore begin at either weekly gathering and follow up without having to make a public request during worship.
