Living Word Lutheran Church

About this church

Living Word Lutheran Church in Katy offers a traditional liturgy Sunday at 8:00 a.m. and a more contemporary Lutheran service at 10:30. Both last about an hour, center on Scripture and sacrament, and celebrate Holy Communion every week. People of every church background may receive Communion or come forward for a blessing. There is no dress code, and visitors are not singled out. The congregation frames its life through connection, inclusion, outreach, and spiritual formation, extending welcome across varied histories and faith experiences while retaining a recognizable Lutheran worship pattern.

Children from prekindergarten through eighth grade gather for songs and a lesson introduction before moving into age- and grade-based Sunday School classes. The church’s discipleship plan aims to support families consistently from infancy through high school. Outreach ranges from baby-care kits, homebound Communion, prayer shawls, and free-clinic assistance to literacy tutoring and crisis support through a Katy-area coalition. On the third Thursday, its Gathering Place gives people with early-to-moderate memory loss music, games, exercise, a meal, and companionship while caregivers receive respite. Ministry partners also address food insecurity, domestic violence, child safety, education, health, and poverty in Texas, Palestine, Peru, and Guatemala.
