First Baptist Church Laredo

About this church

First Baptist Church Laredo traces its beginnings to 1881, when a small group organized the congregation in a family home, and it now meets on Bartlett Avenue in Laredo. Sundays start with Bible study at 10 a.m., followed by worship at 11 a.m. The service runs about an hour and combines contemporary praise songs with traditional hymns, prayer, and Bible-based preaching that connects Scripture to daily life. The 11 a.m. service is also streamed on the church's YouTube channel. Confirm current times on the website before a first visit.

Children's ministry offers age-appropriate lessons, worship, and activities, and the youth group serves middle and high school students with teaching, worship, and events. A Mandarin ministry provides worship, teaching, and fellowship in Mandarin for Chinese-speaking individuals and families. Adults can join growth groups that meet weekly in homes for prayer and Bible study, and singers and instrumentalists can serve through the music ministry. The church also hosts LAUNCH, an enrichment program for homeschool families that meets Thursday mornings in 12-week semesters, with classes from a pre-K playschool for potty-trained 3- and 4-year-olds through high school; the program notes it is not a licensed childcare facility.
