First United Pentecostal Church

About this church

First United Pentecostal Church in Odessa gathers Sundays at 10:30 a.m. and Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m. A Saturday prayer meeting runs from 6:30 to 8:00. The church provides a preview video for people who want to see a service before attending and describes itself as a place of healing, restoration, fellowship, and healthy spiritual growth. Its teaching places the integrity of Scripture first and aims to communicate Pentecostal beliefs in relevant ways across age groups without changing the message.

Pastor Terry Pugh first moved to Odessa in 1978 as the church's youth pastor, later serving at the United Pentecostal Church International's world headquarters before returning to pastoral ministry. His stated goal is to help each person grow closer to Jesus and develop Christlike character. That long connection to both Odessa and the wider UPCI gives visitors useful context for the congregation's leadership and denominational identity. The weekly rhythm is compact but substantial: Sunday worship and teaching, a Wednesday gathering, and an extended Saturday prayer window. Someone researching Pentecostal churches in Odessa can therefore preview the worship culture online and understand the church's biblical, prayer-oriented emphasis before arriving.
