Immanuel Lutheran Church

About this church

Immanuel Lutheran Church offers two summer Sunday services in Pflugerville. Traditional worship begins at 8 a.m. in the historic sanctuary with hymns and organ; contemporary worship begins at 9:30 in the Parish Hall with a praise band, children's sermon, and an opportunity for children to play instruments during the final song. The contemporary service moves to the sanctuary on fourth Sundays. Communion is celebrated at every service, with gluten-free wafers and white grape juice available. Both services are livestreamed, there is no dress code, and a staffed nursery operates during the later service.

Founded by German pioneers, Immanuel dates its congregational life to 1874, with earlier circuit-rider gatherings beginning in 1852. The church retains a small-town character while serving a growing community. Children from age two through sixth grade and youth in grades six through twelve ordinarily meet for Sunday formation at 9:15 during the school year; the summer visitor schedule identifies those programs as paused, so families should verify the restart date. Access features include a ground-level Parish Hall, a ramp to the sanctuary while the elevator is under construction, a quieter livestream chapel, help from security-team members, and Communion brought to a worshiper's seat when needed. A food pantry that began with a few cans now serves many local households each month.
