Southside Baptist Church

About this church

Southside Baptist Church offers two identical contemporary worship services at 9:15 and 10:45 a.m. Sunday at 8875 Old Jacksonville Highway in Tyler. Sunday-morning Life Groups are available at both hours, allowing adults and families to attend a group during one slot and worship during the other. A Sunday-night gathering begins at 6 p.m., and additional Life Groups also meet then. Because the morning services use the same format, newcomers can choose by schedule rather than trying to infer a stylistic difference.

The church summarizes its mission as knowing God and making him known. It describes a Christ-centered community where biblical truth, relationships, family life, discipleship, and service fit together. Southside's story began in 1934 when twenty-four members of a mission church meeting in a log cabin voted to build, eventually developing into the present congregation and campus. Students use Sunday mornings for Bible study and gender- and grade-based discussion, with evening home groups extending community beyond the larger gathering. Worship and production teams invite musicians and technical volunteers, while other ministries help members serve Tyler and grow in faith. A first-time guest can attend at either 9:15 or 10:45 and use the alternate hour for a Life Group. Families and students should ask which group corresponds to their age or stage, since the site publishes the common hours but not every classroom assignment.
