St. John's Lutheran Church

About this church

St. John’s Lutheran Church in Waller gathers for worship Sunday at 9:00 a.m., followed by Sunday School at 10:15. The congregation describes its service as meaningful and creative, designed to engage people of all ages, and extends Communion to everyone. People unable to attend can join worship through Zoom. St. John’s identifies as a welcoming and multiculturally diverse Lutheran community centered on God’s Word and the sacraments, with fellowship, education, service, and mutual encouragement forming part of its life together. A Wednesday adult Bible study meets at 6:30 p.m.

Founded April 13, 1914, by Pastor A. H. Falkenberg and sixteen charter members, the congregation began as Waller’s first German Evangelical Lutheran church. Its long history gives the church a distinctive local story while its present schedule remains accessible to newcomers. The Lutheran Adult Ministries Program meets on the second Wednesday of each month at 11:30 a.m. for lunch and fellowship, adding a daytime connection alongside Sunday worship and study. The church office publishes Monday-through-Wednesday hours of 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. St. John’s is at 1613 Key Street; check the current events page for monthly gatherings and confirm Zoom access through the homepage before joining remotely.
