St. John the Theologian Greek Orthodox Church

About this church

St. John the Theologian Greek Orthodox Church in Webster begins Sunday Orthros at 9:00 a.m., with Divine Liturgy following. The parish belongs to the Greek Orthodox tradition, where sung prayer, icons, Scripture, incense, sacraments, and the church calendar form a continuous worship life. Visitors unfamiliar with Orthodoxy can use the parish's worship and etiquette resources to understand the service before attending, while the calendar lists feast-day and special services beyond Sunday.

The congregation grew from Bay Area outreach services sponsored by Annunciation Cathedral, first meeting monthly and later twice a month in homes and community spaces. As participation increased, the community expanded its Sunday School, nursery, choir, and fellowship life before establishing the current parish. Today, youth programs, Greek school, catechumen classes, dance groups, Philoptochos, AHEPA, choir, and scholarships connect worship to culture, education, and service. The Clear Lake Greek Festival is another public doorway into parish life. A newcomer interested in joining the Orthodox Church can begin with the catechumen path; a first-time observer can simply arrive before Orthros or before the Liturgy that follows and let an usher help with the service book.
