The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - Salem 1st Ward, Salem, Utah

About this church

The Salem 1st Ward meetinghouse of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is located at 695 S 300 W in Salem, Utah, one of six buildings the directory lists in the city. The nearest other meetinghouse is only about three-tenths of a mile away, and this building has a wheelchair-accessible entrance, parking lot, restroom, and seating.

Four congregations rotate through on Sundays: the Salem 1st Ward at 9 a.m., the Salem 5th Ward at 10:30 a.m., the Knoll Park Ward at 12 p.m., and the Salem 3rd Ward at 1:30 p.m. Congregations are grouped by neighborhood, which is why this one building serves so many across a staggered timetable. The sacrament meeting runs close to an hour, with hymns, prayers, the sacrament of bread and water, and talks from members of the congregation, followed by a second hour of classes, Primary included. Attendance costs nothing, and the collection plate familiar from other churches never makes an appearance here. Most members dress for the occasion, though a visitor is welcome to come casually. Since local leaders set and periodically revise this schedule, a quick call ahead of a first Sunday is a sensible step.
