Grace Episcopal Church

About this church

Grace Episcopal Church gathers in downtown Lexington for Holy Eucharist at 8:00 and 10:30 a.m. Sundays, with worship available both in person and online. The earlier service follows Rite I, while the later Eucharist uses Rite II. Grace describes itself as a place of prayer, peace, and joy where people of varied ages and backgrounds worship and serve together. Its mission joins proclamation of the gospel, worship of Jesus, growth in faith, and fellowship with service to neighbors, including the nearby college and university communities that have shaped parish life.

That academic setting is part of what makes Grace distinctive. The parish says its 182-year history includes sustained ministry among students, faculty, and staff, with intellectual inquiry contributing to congregational life. Community work includes a Tuesday men's breakfast with prayer, support for local and international projects, Scouting, and a year-long reentry program that accompanies a returning citizen through release and transition. Grace also explicitly presents reconciliation and human diversity as part of its calling. For visitors, the two liturgical formats, online access, historic downtown presence, and close relationship with Lexington's educational institutions offer a more specific picture than the church's name alone could convey.
