St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church

About this church

St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church is a Ladysmith parish in the Diocese of Richmond whose mission is summarized as “All Are Welcome.” It presents the church as an oasis of prayer and community, with particular emphasis on the sacraments, communal prayer, the Rosary, and time before the reserved Eucharist. The parish began when Slovak immigrants gathered for Mass in Caroline County homes and built a small wooden church in 1914. After decades of growth, the current church was dedicated in 1996, preserving a local Catholic history that predates the modern Ladysmith Road campus.

Weekend Mass includes a Saturday Vigil at 5:00 p.m. and Sunday liturgies at 8:30 and 10:00 a.m., plus a Spanish Mass at 1:00 p.m. Daily Mass is celebrated Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 9:00 a.m. The parish explicitly invites people who are not Catholic to attend activities, experience its liturgical life, and ask questions about Catholic practice. Because the Sunday schedule includes both English and Spanish options, visitors should match the language and hour rather than treating the 1:00 liturgy as a fourth identical service. Special holy-day times belong to the current parish calendar and should be checked separately from this standing weekly pattern.
