Mt Zion Baptist Church

About this church

Mt. Zion Baptist Church offers two distinct Sunday worship styles in Tappahannock: a contemporary service at 9:00 a.m. and a traditional service at 11:00, with Sunday School for all ages at 10:00 between them. The contemporary hour uses modern praise music, while the later service follows a more traditional pattern. This arrangement lets visitors choose a style without losing access to the same midmorning study program.

Ministries include music, children and youth, women’s work, Vacation Bible School, meals for homebound neighbors, and local mission projects. Sunday School groups have supported Hope for Appalachia, Christmas fruit boxes for older and homebound residents, and other needs nearby. The church encourages people to connect through the abilities and spiritual gifts they already have, whether teaching, singing, preparing food, or serving in the community. A first-time guest can attend one service or make Sunday School the bridge between both. Families should arrive before 10:00 for classroom directions and check the ministry calendar for youth retreats and seasonal projects.
