About this church

Salt House Church gathers at 10 a.m. Sunday at 11920 Northeast 80th Street in Kirkland, with a livestream for online participation. The congregation began in March 2015 after Trinity Lutheran Church intentionally closed so a new ministry could emerge. It is now an Evangelical Lutheran Church in America community centered on Jesus, progressive Christian practice, radical inclusion, and anti-racism, welcoming people who are faithful, doubtful, curious, recovering, or uncertain without requiring conformity.

Children from birth through age ten can use nursery care, weekly Sunday School, or other environments chosen with their family's needs in mind. Middle-school SPARK generally meets from noon to 1 p.m. Sunday during the September-to-May school year, while Y@SH for grades nine through twelve gathers from 6:30 to 8 Sunday evening. Care Partners accompany people through hardship by phone, visits, prayer, hospital support, and rides. Meal Train volunteers bring food after births, surgery, cancer treatment, and other transitions, while additional teams provide practical help and memorial support. Salt House describes its shared practices as authentic, creative, present, playful, justice-minded, and open to growth. A visitor can attend in person or online and expect an explicitly LGBTQ-affirming Lutheran congregation whose welcome is paired with organized care and age-specific community.
