First African Methodist Episcopal Church of Seattle, commonly called FAME Seattle, is the oldest Black church in Washington state. Founded in 1886 before statehood, the congregation combines historic AME worship and spiritual formation with education, social justice, cultural leadership, housing, and community development. Its affiliated housing association develops affordable homes for lower-income families and older adults, while the FAME Equity Alliance works on the social and economic well-being of Black families across Washington. Children and teenagers participate in Church School, worship leadership, fellowship, and the denomination’s Young People’s Department.

At the Seattle campus, the hybrid Adult Church School Encounter Group begins Sundays at 9:30 a.m., followed by worship at 11:00 in person, on Facebook, and on YouTube. A second FAME campus in Auburn worships at 9:00 a.m.; directory visitors looking for the historic Seattle church should use 1522 14th Avenue. Children’s and youth Church School meets on selected Sundays rather than every week, and Youth and Young Adult Sundays rotate by campus. The Sunday broadcast also airs later on KYIZ 1620 AM.
