Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church celebrates Mass at 7:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Saturday and at 8 and 11 a.m. Sunday at 545 Norway Avenue in Huntington. Weekday Mass is offered at 7:30 Tuesday through Friday, with an additional noon Mass Tuesday. Confession is available from 3:30 to 4:30 Saturday. Eucharistic Adoration runs from 8 to 11:45 a.m. on first Fridays before noon Mass and from 3:15 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. The parish was formally established in 1951 as Catholic families moved toward southeastern Huntington. Its first Masses were held that December in a prefabricated metal church, and a parish school opened in 1954 with ninety pupils. The present church first hosted Mass on Thanksgiving Day in 1963. Today the parish describes its mission as sharing God's love in Word and Sacrament. Recurring ministries include a Tuesday Rosary group, faith-formation sessions for adults on Monday morning and Thursday evening, a food collection for the ECCHO pantry, homebound Communion, and a joint Catholic youth group for grades seven through twelve on second and fourth Sundays. Newcomers can choose from four weekend Masses, while anyone needing Baptism, marriage preparation, a homebound visit, or parish registration should begin with the office because advance arrangements are required.
