What Does 1 Chronicles 16:28 Mean?
The psalm calls the nations to respond. Every family and people is summoned to give to the Lord, that is, to ascribe to Him the glory and strength that are truly His.
To 'give' God glory is not to add anything to Him but to acknowledge what is already His and confess it openly. Worship is the creature returning to the Creator the honor that belongs to Him. The whole human family is invited into this act, for the Lord made all peoples and is worthy of the praise of all. None is too distant to be called home to His glory.
