What Does 1 Timothy 2:4 Mean?
Here is the reason prayer reaches so wide: God himself wills that all people be saved and come to know the truth. His desire is not narrow but as broad as humanity.
This is the heart of God laid open. He takes no pleasure in anyone being lost; he longs for every person to be rescued and brought to the truth. The church prays for all because God's own love reaches toward all.
In the Original Language
thelo (θέλω), 'will have' -- to desire or wish; God's genuine longing for all to be saved.
