A powerful army commander has a sickness no one can cure. The person who points him to help? A little servant girl who loves God.
Today's Story
Naaman was a mighty army commander — strong, important, and respected by everyone. But Naaman had a skin sickness that no doctor could cure, and it made him very sad.
In Naaman's house was a young servant girl from Israel. She loved God. She said to Naaman's wife, “If only my master would go and see God's prophet, Elisha. He could heal him!”
So Naaman traveled all the way to Elisha's house. But Elisha didn't even come outside — he just sent a message: “Go wash in the Jordan River seven times, and you will be healed.”
Naaman was furious! “What? I came all this way, and he tells me to wash in that muddy little river? I expected something grand!” He almost stomped off.
But his servants said gently, “Master — if the prophet had asked you to do something hard, you'd have done it. Why not try the simple thing?” Naaman thought about it. Then he went down to the Jordan and dipped under the water — once, twice… all the way to seven times.
And when he came up the seventh time — his skin was healed! Perfect and new, like a little child's. Naaman was amazed. He hurried back and said, “Now I know there is no God in all the world except the God of Israel!” The proud commander was healed — and even better, he had found the true God, all because a little girl told him where to look.

Talk About It

- Naaman almost missed his healing because the instructions seemed too simple and he was too proud. When is it hard to do something simple you're told to do?
- After he was healed, Naaman believed in the true God. How do you think his life changed after that day?
