What Does Acts 16:36 Mean?
The keeper of the prison, now a brother in the faith, relays the order gladly and adds his own blessing: go in peace. For him the terrible night has ended in double deliverance, his prisoners spared and his household saved.
'Go in peace' is a true word over men who carry the peace of God and have just planted it in two Philippian homes. Yet Paul will not slip quietly away (v. 37); for the sake of those staying behind, the injustice done must first be brought into the light.
